Rainford railway station is situated in the village of Rainford Junction, Merseyside, England. The station, and all trains serving it, are operated by Northern Rail.

[edit] History

It was originally built as Rainford Junction at the junction of the Liverpool and Bury Railway, the Skelmersdale Branch and St. Helens Railway, replacing an earlier station called Rainford.

[edit] Services

Trains operate to Kirkby (for connections to Liverpool) in one direction and to Manchester Victoria via Wigan Wallgate in the other, usually every 60 minutes (Monday to Saturday). Many trains continue beyond Manchester to Rochdale.
