Raimundo Fernández Villaverde

Raimundo Fernández Villaverde y García del Rivero, Marquis of Pozo Rubio, (20 January 1848–15 July 1905) was a Spanish statesman.

He was born at Madrid. He studied Law at Central University of Madrid where he got the Bachelor of Arts aged 21. After reach the Doctor of Philosophy, he became professor at the above-mentioned university. He was elected to Spanish parliament in 1872 for Caldas. On 22 Mars 1880 he was appointed undersecretary with Fernando Cos Gayón as Chancellor of the Exchequer, charge of which he was resigned when Sagasta took over. On 31 Mars 1884 was appointed civil governor of Madrid. He became Ministry of Gobernación on 11 July 1885. He left the ministry after the death of Alfonso XII when Sagasta returned to hold the presidency.
