Railroaded! is a 1947 black-and-white film noir directed by Anthony Mann.
[edit] Plot
Mobster Duke Martin (Ireland) with his beautician/bookmaker girlfriend Clara Calhoun (Jane Randolph, of Cat People fame) plot to stage an inside-job robbery of her beauty shop. Their plans go awry when Duke's partner Cowie and a neighborhood beat cop are killed during the holdup. On his deathbed, Cowie points police in the wrong direction by fingering an innocent man, Steve Ryan - the guy whose stolen car was used for the getaway. Detective Mickey Ferguson (Beaumont) investigates and arrests Ryan, and ends up falling for his sister, Rosie. To prove her brother's innocence, Rosie plans to get close to Duke. Ferguson slowly begins to realize that he may have arrested an innocent man.
