The Raid on Black Mesa East is a fictional battle between Combine and Rebel Forces appearing in the 2004 first-person shooter computer game Half-Life 2. The battle is a rather short conflict in contrast to other battles fought during the game, and lasts only for several hours. Due to giving shelter to Gordon Freeman Combine Forces in the surrounding environs raided Black Mesa East via the co-ordination of Dr. Judith Mossman and succeeded in capturing Rebel Leader Eli Vance and his Entanglement Technology.

[edit] Prelude to Battle
Upon being pursued by Overwatch Forces and a Hunter-Chopper outside of City 17 Gordon Freeman arrived at Black Mesa East shortly after disposing of the Hunter-Chopper. Gordon was led into the main control room by Dr. Judith Mossman, Eli's assistant before moving out into the trash yard with Alyx Vance and being introduced to the Zero Point Field Manipulator (Gravity Gun). After successfuly operating the Gravity Gun, Combine Forces made a surprise attack on Black Mesa East, trapping Gordon, Alyx and her robotic pet Dog in an adjacent airlock "stuck in a full autocycle".
[edit] The Battle
Not much is known concerning the battle. The only scenes of fighting that the player can actually see is one on a moniter when they are inside the air lock, the player is able to watch as Vortigaunts attack using their signature green bolts. And, another when the ceiling collapses, the player is able to see several Vortiguants shooting bolts at unseen enemies.
[edit] Aftermath
The battle is presumably a tactical defeat for the Rebels at Black Mesa East, as indispensible resistance scientist Eli Vance was kidnapped in the process of the raid. and it is presumed that most of the personnel fled the scene. After Gordon Freeman is cutoff from the facility he has no choice but to continue through Ravenholm, which effectively ends the battle of Black Mesa East from the player's point of view.
[edit] The Current State of Black Mesa East
While not having been confirmed, it has most likely been destroyed by Combine Forces, which had overrun the facility's interior.
