Rae Stewart is Westminster Correspondent reporter on stv's news programmes for Central and Northern Scotland, Scotland Today, and North Tonight, and has been since May 2000.

Rae started his TV career as a researcher on the station's former political programme Scottish Questions, presented by Margo McDonald and David Whitton. Then, after a year working for Sky News in Scotland, Rae moved to London to be stv's Parliamentary Correspondent, covering the Commons for the station between 1991 and 1995.

He then moved to GMTV as Scotland Correspondent.

Stewart moved to London to work for the morning station as producer, news editor and political correpondent, before working as a reporter for Sky News. But in May 2000, when stv asked him to return as Westminster Correspondent, he jumped at the chance.

He is also the author of two unpublished novels, a fact that makes his colleague, John Mackay's success all the more difficult to bear.

Rae has been seen filling in on the main edition of Scotland Today.
