In the fictional Star Wars galaxy, the Radiant VII is a Consular-class cruiser that served the Galactic Republic as a diplomatic vessel from its launch in 66 ABY until its destruction in 32 ABY.

Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn and his apprentice Obi-Wan Kenobi were onboard the ship for its final mission, as they were dispatched by Supreme Chancellor Valorum to Naboo to meet with the Trade Federation leaders who had recently begun a blockade above the peaceful planet. What seemed to be a simple diplomatic mission quickly descended into chaos however, as soon after the ship docked inside the hangar bay of one of the massive Trade Federation battleships, the two Jedi were ambushed by battle droids while waiting in a conference room, and a hidden turbolaser turret in the ceiling of the hangar bay opened fire on the Radiant VII. The 34-year old vessel and its two pilots, Captain Madakor and Lieutenant Williams, were immediately obliterated.

Darth Sidious was the one who ordered the ambush of the Jedi and the destruction of the ship, presumably to escalate the conflict over Naboo, which was the first major step in his grand plan to take control of the galaxy.

[edit] Diplomatic Immunity

All diplomatic vessels operating within the Republic have highly-visible red markings of some kind to indicate their diplomatic immunity and neutrality. It is a generally-accepted rule that these vessels are not to be attacked by anyone under any circumstances. The Radiant VII's all-red color scheme designated that not only was the ship on a diplomatic mission, but that it originated from the galactic capital world of Coruscant.
