The word "raddi" colloquially in India refers to old newspapers which are collected by the raddi shop-owner to be recycled.

People leave all kinds of paper at these places, often receiving a minuscule amount for priceless books. The going rate for a kilogram of newsprint is usually around Rs.5 - 10.

These are subsequently sold to paper mills.
