Radarmaker

Radarmaker are a Perth-based, Australian art rock band that formed in 2000. Song-writing duties and instruments are shared equally between the four members. Their name is taken from a track on Mogwai's first album.

Radarmaker released their first single "Play" in 2002 and it received regular airplay on the radio station RTR. Radarmaker have also been nominated for a WAMI and a WASA in 2005 for Best Music Video for their song "Arm versus Fiery Antenna" which is available on their debut EP "Aristocracy and the Horse". The video was directed by Noah Norton. Radarmaker have also received airplay on Triple J's Soundlab with their song "Atlas Shrugged".

Aristocracy and the Horse is the name of Radarmaker's debut EP. It was released on May 6, 2005 after 15 months of recording, mixing and producing. The EP contains the following tracks:

The band started recording their debut album in July 2005 with the ambition to release before Christmas, however the band later rescheduled the release to July 8th 2006. They have chose to again work with producer Trevor Cotton at Shogun Studios and the album was mastered by local producer Neil Rabinowitz of found: quantity of sheep fame. Radarmaker's future has been left undecided after quasi-front man Adam Trainer departed to pursue other ventures.

Radarmaker take their name from the Mogwai song 'Radar Maker' and Mogwai's influence on their sound is clear. Other influences include Radiohead, Sonic Youth and Yo La Tengo. Noah has acknowledged that the Radarmaker song 'Hillside Mieno' was a tribute to Brian Eno. "Atlas Shrugged" is said to be named after the popular book after Wendi read the book and decided she hated it.
