R. Geraint Gruffydd

Professor Emeritus R. Geraint Gruffydd, MA DPhil FBA is a scholar of Welsh language and literature and is also an amateur theologian[citation needed]. During his academic career he held three notable offices:

Since his academic retirement in 1993 he became President of the International Congress of Celtic Studies until 2003 and was also Vice-President of University of Wales, Aberystwyth until recently. He has written books and chapters on a wide range on subjects from his treatment of Dafydd ap Gwilym, through to William Williams Pantycelyn’s work and forward in to 20th century writers such as Saunders Lewis.

He is a Calvinist Christian[citation needed]. He is a Welsh Nationalist[citation needed] and is a supporter of Plaid Cymru.
