Courtright's first season was the most remarkable in the history of Nevada athletics up to that time for two reasons: first, it was the first season the team won eight games, tying F. F. Ellis' 1898 win percentage at .800 (although the Ellis-coached team played only five games that year); second, it marked the largest margin of victory ever recorded by the University of Nevada, a record which stands to this day, when Courtright's team blasted a hapless University of the Pacific team 132-0 at the original Mackay Stadium.
