Røst Airport (IATA: RETICAO: ENRS) is a small regional airport serving the municipality of Røst in Nordland, Norway. The airport provides a means of communication for the outermost islands of Lofoten. The airport was opened in 1986. The airport is located on the north side of the island. Avinor is the airport operator.

The main airport building combines the terminal, control tower and other services. The airport can handle up to 40 passengers per hour and planes as large as the Dash 8-100. [1]

The airport is served by Kato Air which operates a route with Dornier 228 aircraft to Bodø (airport). The route is operated as a Public Service Obligation.

The airport has been served by a variety of airlines. Widerøe had the route for several years until the government awarded the route to Guard Air from 2000, but that company folded in 2001 [2] and CHC Helikopter Service replaced temporarily it until Widerøe won the route back in 2001 [3]. In April 2003 Kato Air took over the Bodø-Røst route. The new airline had a troubled start with the passenger numbers dropping by 27% since the takeover [4] and one flight from Røst to Bodø had to make an emergency landing on December 4 the same year after a lightning strike [5], leading to accusations that the government had chosen the cheapest offer at expense of safety [6].

Passenger complaints about the service have continued. In February 2006, there were a wave of cancelled flights [7], and in June it was reported that the pilots on the flight have had to sell tickets because Kato Air had declined to let Widerøe continue handling the fare collection citing increased costs [8].
