[edit] Removing general complaints

Is the idea that you don't think that Wikipedia:General complaints is a valid source for help, or are you trying to avoid sending more traffic there than necessary? I did not understand your summary "quagmire, PR disaster". How is linking to a complaint desk a PR disaster? -lethe talk + 22:54, 10 April 2006 (UTC)

We have dozens of pages for people to ask questions or make complaints, and Wikipedia:General Complaints is a problem page. Though there are sometimes replies, nothing posted there is acted upon, and non-participants in the project due unwise things, like post their email address, because they don't understand (despite the disclaimers and warnings) that it's a public page. So people get upset, and confused. We have a lot of duplication of process and I'm trying to be bold and clean up some of it. Let see, we have the wikien-l, the Village Pump (in several sections), General Complaints, the Help Desk (in several sections), and the Contact Us pages (in several sections), and the Administrator's Noticeboard. Of these, General Complaints is probably the least helpful, though the village pump is nearly as bad. The Uninvited Co., Inc. 23:08, 10 April 2006 (UTC)
Hmm... perhaps the page should be de-commissioned? -lethe talk + 23:14, 10 April 2006 (UTC)
I would agree. The first step, though, is to remove the incoming links. The Uninvited Co., Inc. 01:57, 11 April 2006 (UTC)
Yes, that's probably true. But if there isn't a serious effort to kill the page, removing links just makes orphans. Orphans are probably as good as dead, so it's not that bad I guess. Just a little messy. -lethe talk + 02:01, 11 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Redesign

The "redesign" (as far as I understand it) is explained on Template talk:Ph:Reader. If you liked the old design, it's "preserved" by Template:Ph:Reader (edit talk links history). -- Omniplex 21:30, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
