[edit] Plot

On Tarsonis, Zerg are protecting a chrysalis and leave for a volcanic planet known as Char.

Jim Raynor and Arcturus Mengsk received visions from the slowly transforming Kerrigan. Mengsk sends his henchman General Duke to Char, the source of the visions. Raynor also follows. The two sides skirmish but Raynor's forces spend most of their time fighting the Zerg on the planet.

The novel covers the meeting of Raynor, Tassadar and Zeratul and the assassination of the Zerg Cerebrate Zasz by Zeratul.

Daniel Liberty from StarCraft: Liberty's Crusade makes a cameo in the novel.
