Ren and Stimpy: Quest for the Shaven Yak was developed by Realtime Associates for Sega of America. Sega published the handheld Game Gear game in 1994. The game was based on the Nickelodeon cartoon Ren and Stimpy; while several Ren and Stimpy games were made for multiple game platforms, this particular game was only created for the Game Gear.

Quest for the Shaven Yak was a 2D platform game and was one of the more successful Game Gear titles for that year. The player could choose to play as either Ren or Stimpy and faced a variety of obstacles in classic platformer environs. It was a 1-player game. The game was rated E for everyone.
Game levels included: Stinking Dry Desert, Wet Bayou, Perilous Mt. Hoek and the Great Frozen North Powerup weapons included a bar of soap for floating soap bubble attack.
