queerplanet, was first established in Sydney, Australia in 2002 as a purely entertainment style online magazine by Andrew Stopps. It now has 4 main international sites, with over 70 reporters, photographers and support teams and 4 affiliated service sites. It had grown to cover all aspects and opinions of queer culture and lifestyle.

In August 2006, queerplanet officially became Generation Q. Generation Q represents the link that binds us all and that all of us share within our community and with the world. It says that it doesn’t matter what sexuality you are, we are all bound together by our humanity. Generation Q will be also advocating issues and rights on the site and in real life.

Generation Q is run by virtual office, with locations in: Australia: Sydney (Head Office), Melbourne, Brisbane; American:New York, Tampa, Augusta, Austin, Baltimore, Los Angeles; Canada: Vancouver, Toronto; UK: London, Norwich, Bedfordshire.

The Generation Q network is a volunteer based organization with a mission is to provide creative outlets and opportunities for the GLBTIQ2 and GLBT-friendly community of all ages to help them find and develop skills they never knew they had, in a safe environment. It also endeavors to raise money and bring attention and awareness to worthy charities through fundraising and dance parties around the world, and to nurture and develop role models and to intervene where necessary where there are people at risk. Generation Q does not endorse pornography and there is no pornography on any of the Generation Q websites, due to the founder, Andrew Stopps' belief that there are enough websites that provide that service and due to the desire to be a site that is entertaining, informative, and non-threatening.

[edit] The Generation Q Vision is to be:

  • The ultimate on-line queer-friendly network empowering the community to manage their lives without fear of discrimination
  • The primary conduit to the international GLBTQ2 community
  • The leading non pornographic magazine for the GLBTQ2 community.

"Being involved with GenerationQ and the experience it has given me is beyond anything I could expect from such a position. From my humble intentions of improving my writing skills, I have learned so much more about being a member of a team and a global community. I have learned the importance of communicating with team-members and that a webspace, such a GenerationQ, is the result of a huge effort from the contributors to the editors, to the managers and so on"
