The Queensland Greens is a Green Party located in Queensland, Australia, a member of the federation of the Australian Greens party.
The Qld Greens have performed increasingly well in elections over the last few years. At the 2006 State Election, The Greens achieved a state wide primary vote of almost 8%, an increase of nearly 20% over their 2004 result. In Brisbane City Council elections, The Greens have been able to gain up to 20% in inner city wards.
Due the state's unicameral parliamentary system as well as its cultural makeup the Queensland Greens are the least successful Green party in any Australian state. With Australian Democrats Senator Andrew Bartlett facing re-election in 2007 in the face of the declining popularity of the party the Queensland Greens may replace the Democrats as the balance of power in the Federal Senate should a swing against the Coalition eventuate.
