Residents of the Northwest area of Queens, New York City began experiencing power outages Monday, July 17, 2006. An estimated 25,000 Con Ed customers in the neighborhoods of Woodside, Sunnyside, Long Island City, and Astoria were without electrical service for a week, with the majority of customers with full power by Tuesday, July 25.
