[edit] Plot

After a thunderstorm, Courage is scared out of the farmhouse by Eustace, when he sees a strange black puddle. He looks into it, and his reflection is transformed into that of a Gothic looking woman all in black. She hisses at him, and he is scared back into the house. He alerts Muriel, but the woman does not reappear. Courage is still nervous and stares out of the window. Eustace is drinking his tea, when a strange dripping sound is heard. The strange woman rises from the tea, and sprays Eustace with some. Eustace gets infatuated with her appearance, and stares at her with lust. Courage sees this and is terrified. He warns Muriel, but the woman disappears. Eustace comes out of his trance and claims something was wrong with the tea. After that Eustace is sent to fix a leaking pipe, and then the strange woman reappears in one of the drips. Courage sees and tells Muriel. The woman disappears, but Eustace is still in his trance. Muriel says she is beginning to get worried about him. When Eustace is in the bath, the woman rises from it in full physical form. She pulls the plug out and as she goes down she tempts Eustace, asking him to come with her. Eustace tries to follow her down the bath. Muriel says that the next day Eustace is to go to the doctor. That night, the strange woman rises from the black puddle outside. She goes up the stairs. She finds the door locked to the bedroom, so goes into a watery form to get under the door. Courage wakes up to see her take Eustace from his bed and back outside. He looks out of the window to see the woman take Eustace into the black puddle with her. The next day Muriel is dismayed to find Eustace gone, and despite Courage's efforts, she says the only thing to cheer her up would be to have Eustace back. Courage sees that the only thing to do is to rescue Eustace by going into the black puddle himself. He finds that the puddle is beginning to close, but dives in nevertheless. He finds himself in a strange watery world with a castle in the centre and a lot of bones on the floor. He looks through the top window of the castle and sees the woman with Eustace. She puts a necklace on him and starts to seductively dance, putting Eustace more and more under her spell. Courage looks at the skeletons and sees that they have jewellery around them and the same enchanted expression that Eustace has! Courage gasps, realizing what is about to happen. He sees the woman transform into a monster before his eyes! The monster sees Courage and snarls at him. She is about to devour Eustace, but Courage rescues him with a fishing rod. Courage swims away with him, but the monstrous woman chases after them. Courage manages to trap her inside a clam, but she manages to break out. Courage swims towards the exit portal, which is quickly closing. Courage almost makes it, but the portal closes! Courage panics, but then sees another pool...a pool of Muriel's tears! Courage swims towards and manages to get through, much to Muriel's shock and relief. The monster-woman tries to get through, but Courage closes it up with a hairdryer, trapping her. Muriel is delighted to have Eustace back, and she gets him out of his trance by hitting him with a rolling pin. In the bath, Courage is relieved to have escaped from the she-demon, until a similar looking dog rises from the water and winks at him!

[edit] Trivia

  • After several comedic episodes, this is the first horrific episode.
  • The Queen's true form is unknown. It is either a woman, a dog or a monster. It is most likely to be the monster, and she uses the attractive female forms to attract male victims, although in her next appearance she is in her human form. She could, however, be using this form because she is not underwater then, and the monster seems more suited to water.
