[edit] History

The station was first opened by the London and North Western Railway (LNWR) on 2 June 1879 on its Watford line. Services on the Bakerloo Line were extended to Queen's Park on 11 February 1915. On 10 May 1915 Bakerloo services began north of Queen's Park over tracks shared with the LNWR. Initially services went as far as Willesden Junction, but these were extended to Watford Junction in 1917 when the line was electrified. The Bakerloo line ceased operating beyond Harrow & Wealdstone in the 1980s.

[edit] The station today

On the Bakerloo Line, Queen's Park is between Kilburn Park and Kensal Green. Around a third of Bakerloo Line trains terminate at Queen's Park rather than continuing to Harrow & Wealdstone.

All platforms at Queen's Park station are on the surface. The entrances to the Bakerloo Line tunnels are about 300 metres to the east of the station. Bakerloo Line services starting or ending at Queen's Park normally start or end their journeys in the two centre roads of the 4-road carriage shed immediately to the west of the station. Unusually, Bakerloo Line trains joining or leaving the Euston to Watford DC line do so by passing through the carriage shed on one of the two outer roads.

[edit] Transport connections

London Buses routes 6 (24 Hour service), 36, 187, 206, 316 and Night Bus routes N36 serve the site of the station. During to the closure of Kilburn High Road, Queen's Park will also be served by the 16, 98, N16, and N98 Buses until July 2006.

[edit] Future

The station will be managed by London Underground from November 2007. It will remain the property of Network Rail. [2] Passenger services currently operated by Silverlink will become part of London Overground.
