Quaid-i-Azam University

Quaid-i-Azam University (more appropriately as Qa'id-e A'zam) is the largest public-sector university located in Islamabad, Pakistan. Founded as the university of Islamabad in 1965, it was later renamed in 1976 as Qa'id- e A'zam University. The name means "Great Leader" and refers to the honorific title of Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan and its first Governal General.

The university is best known for its qualiy of education. Particularly, its highly regarded Department of Defence and Strategic Studies is one of the few specialist departments dedicated to the subject in Asia, indeed the world.
