QSI International School of Yerevan

The QSI International School of Yerevan (QSIY) is an international school in Yerevan, Armenia and part of the Quality Schools International group. It is an independent, coeducational day school which offers an educational program to children of all nationalities ages 3 to 13. Children of ages 14-17 may be enrolled at QSIY but take their courses through correspondence from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Independent Study High School. QSIY was founded in 1995.

At the beginning of the 2004-2005 school year, enrollment was 59 and there were 11 full-time faculty members.

[edit] Curriculum

The School offers an outcomes-based educational program with a curriculum similar to that of U.S. public and private schools. Instruction, leading to individual mastery, takes advantage of small class sizes and the diverse educational backgrounds of the students. Instruction is in English. Courses include English, mathematics, science, social studies, physical education, Russian, French, art and music. Soccer, basketball, karate, dance, Brownies, chess, Armenian language, and other activities are offered as after-school activities. The elementary grades are accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.

The School moved to a new location during August 1999 and is located above the office of a furniture factory. There are, at present, 5 large and 4 small classrooms, a library, a computer lab, offices, a multi-purpose room, and 4 bathrooms. There is also a large playground, a soccer pitch, a volleyball court, and an outside stage. A wall surrounds the School, and there are 24-hour security watchmen.
