Description: Example of a pyrocumulus cloud generated by a forest fire. Photo is of the Charlton Fire, August 1996, taken through an airplane window. The white area at the lower part of the photo is part of the airplane wing. The fire occurred just north of Waldo Lake in the Cascade Range in west-central Oregon. Color and contrast corrections applied by Quicksilver.
