Puthupally

Puthuppally located at 9.29 North and 76.31 East is a Panchayat headquarters town 8.2 km away from Thirunakkara junction of Kottayam town. Two roads - Kottayam Kozhencherry and Manarcaud Thenganal cross at Puthupally Junction. There is a famous church, - St. George Church - 1.1 km away from Puthupally Junction, on the banks of Kodoor River. There is one Siva Temple at Puthupally, which is considered to be one of the 108 temples constructed by Parasurama. The famous Panachikad Temple is about 4 km away from Puthupally.

Oommen Chandy, the Ex-Chief Minister of Kerala, has been representing the Puthupally Legislative Constituency for more than 35 years.

Puthupally is an important centre of the Syrian Christians belonging to the two Malankara churches.
