Pushing The Senses (2005) |
Feeder The Singles (2006) |
Pushing the Senses is British band Feeder's fifth studio album, released January 31, 2005 (see 2005 in music). Grant Nicholas, Feeder's lead singer described this album as more of an extension to their previous album "Comfort in Sound", than a new album of its own right. It's mellow sound is more akin to some of the more serene tracks of "Comfort In Sound", and as many believe, it is lacking in powerful melodies like in earlier hits such as "Buck Rogers" and "Just A Day".
The album however is Feeder's joint highest charting making #2 in February 2005, and went Gold in a week like their previous album "Comfort In Sound". Notably it was Q magazine's 39th top album of the same year. It was also heavily praised by Austria's music press, despite a very mixed critical reception in the UK.
The album went on to win The Pop Factory award in 2005 for "Best Album" making it unofficially the biggest domestic album in Wales during that period.
It's also the first ever Feeder album to spawn two top 10 sales chart hits anywhere worldwide. As in Scotland "Tumble and Fall" made #7 and "Tender" made #9, after being double A-sided with "Shatter".
