[edit] Punjabi gang sets
Ever since the 1987's, Punjabi gang sets have been rising up in India, England, Canada, and United States. Although there are many gang sets, most of them are basically "Cliques" organized in school. Other than the smaller groups, attention is turned to the big boys. These include Punjabi bloods, Punjabi Killaz, Punjabi Mafia, Punjabi-by-nature boys, etc. Most of these gang sets started off as groups of boys defending themselves from Spanish and African American gang sets. Later on, most Punjabi gang sets have combined with most African-American, Spanish gangs, adding more members to the whole street wars family.
[edit] Identification
Most punjabi gangs identify with the colors black, white, red, blue, or army. Some wear Orange. Punjabis may walk around with Kuras (steel religious braclets) and most punjabi gangs use them as brass-knuckles in fights. It is very common to find them all in groups near parking lots and most of them speak their native language Punjabi. Bhangra, the famous punjabi music, has also started to become associated in Punjabi gang activity.
[edit] The collaboration
Soon afterwards, most punjabi gangs had joined up with blood and crip gang sets. The biggest blood related punjabi gang is known as the Punjabi Bloods. As the name suggests, the gang heavily identifies with the colors red, black, and white and gang-members are easily spotted. Punjabi Mafia has grown big with the African-American community and crime has become a big issue in their field. Drugs have become a bigger issue because of punjabis sneaking it through from India to other countries. This just goes to show when we think gang activity has slowed down, it is just taking a big breath.
