PuLSEfm

PuLSEfm[1] is the official radio station of the London School of Economics Students Union. The station is managed by an elected Executive Committee, which is headed by the Station Manager.
Together, PuLSEfm, The Beaver newspaper, The Script journal ([2]) and LooSEtv make up the Media Group [3] of the LSE Students Union.

PuLSEfm's membership consists of over 70 DJs playing a mix of mainstream and specialist music, as well as several dozen other students in the areas of promotions and advertising, broadcast journalism, technical, production and programming. In September 2005 PuLSEfm was awarded the ‘Student Website of the Year’ at the Guardian Student Media Awards 2005.
In 2006, PuLSEfm organised its famous Seven Deadly Sins party [4], headed the LSE SU RAG Week with a 120 hour-long live broadcastathon, and along with LooSEtv organised the live broadcasting of the LSE SU election results. The LSE SU Media Group Awards [5] took place in the summer term, jointly organised with the other members of the LSE SU Media Group.
PuLSEfm regularly sends a newsletter to its members, The Beat.[6].

In term time (October-December, Jan-March, April-June), PuLSEfm broadcasts live on campus to students every weekday. [7]. Additionally, PuLSEfm broadcasts continually online at www.pulsefm.co.uk [8] in and out of term-time to an audience based both in the UK and overseas.
During regular broadcast hours, content consists of DJ shows, news, topical shows [9], interviews and live performances. Last year, PuLSEfm hosted live performances by The Silent League and the hip-hop group Shorty. In the same period, PuLSEfm conducted interviews [10] with José Manuel Durão Barroso, President of the European Commission, John Edwards, the 2004 Democratic US Vice-Presidential Candidate, the Rt. Hon. Clare Short MP, Valéry Giscard d'Estaing, former French President, Kim Campbell, former Canada PM and president of the Club of Madrid.
This year, PuLSEfm have interviewed Tim Westwood and Alan Fletcher (aka Dr. Karl Kennedy)and have many more on the agenda....
Outside of the regular programming times, PuLSEfm broadcasts playlists compiled by the Head of Music and Programming Director of the station. These playlists consist of music from both established and up and coming artists, and reflect the diverse and discerning taste of the PuLSEfm student listenership.

PuLSEfm provides something for everyone. Being a part of the team could mean anything from interviewing Joan Laporta, president of Barcelona FC, to scoring press tickets or backstage passes to the latest and greatest gigs.
