The term pulp hero and pulp villain refers to the larger-than-life heroes and villains that appeared in the pulp magazines from the 1920s to the 1950s, many times in self-titled magazines.

The term can also be used to refer to characters created later for books, comics, TV, and movies that are inspired by and try to invoke the original type of characters.
