PSAP is an acronym for Public Safety Answering Point, an agency in the United States, typically county or city controlled, responsible for answering 9-1-1 calls for emergency assistance from police, fire, and ambulance services.

There are roughly 6,500 PSAPs. Personnel working for PSAPs can become voting members of the National Emergency Number Association (NENA).

Emergency dispatcher working in PSAPs can become certified with the National Academies of Emergency Dispatch (NAED), and the PSAPs can become NAED Accredited Center of Excellence.
