[edit] Wikipedia Picture of the Day

Picture of the day

Vibrissae (whiskers) of a Patagonian fox

A close-up of the face of a Culpeo, clearly showing its vibrissae, or whiskers. Vibrissae are specialized hairs that grow around the nostrils or other parts of the face in most mammals. They offer an advantage to animals that do not always have sight to rely on to navigate, or to find food, or when the usefulness of non-tactile senses is limited.

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Charles Garrett Maloney.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Charles Garrett Maloney.jpg. The image description page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

[edit] Bengel1959

When you have a free moment, can you take a look at this user and his contributions? He created two articles today, both of which I tagged for wikification, cleanup, and referencing. However, instead of making said improvements, he simply deletes the tags. I placed a message on his talk page asking him not to delete said tags, but rather to make the improvements to which the tags refer. Instead, he deleted the tags again. Now, I am not going to risk a 3RR violation by placing the tags for a third time, so I am asking for the intervention of an administrator. I also suspect that both articles are copied from some other source, because the tone and the wording sound more like advertising than an encyclopedia article. I can find no proof of copy-vio at this point, though, so I did not tag them as such. At any rate, if you could take a look and tell me what you think I would greatly appreciate it. I have a feeling he is a new user, so he may just need some instruction. Thanks. ---Charles 18:46, 28 July 2006 (UTC)

I'll look into it. Thanks. -- Psy guy Talk 19:50, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for your attention to the matter. I am now off on wiki-break, see you in a few weeks. ---Charles 04:35, 29 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Scoties

  • Thanks for blocking User:Scoties, I am the person to which he was referring, needless to say, despite all the attacks I've taken on this site, that was absolutely unbelievable, not to mention scary, that someone could hate me that much. Anyways, thanks. -- pm_shef 20:47, 5 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] User:Bmwboy

User:Bmwboy has been working some nonsense lately, and I noticed that you'd blocked him with a warning of sorts for the future. His recent contribs seem to have violated his parole. Thought you'd like to know- Staecker 17:49, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

Taken care of. Thanks. -- Psy guy Talk 18:06, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Autoblocked

I have been Autoblocked by you. Can you remove the block cause I have nothing to do with this..

The block message is :

"Your user name or IP address has been blocked from editing.
You were blocked by Psy guy for the following reason (see our blocking policy):
Autoblocked because your IP address has been recently used by "Bmwboy". The reason given for Bmwboy's block is: "Violation of :Conditional Unblock - Reinstate Indef Block".
Your IP address is 72.14.194.31. "
All taken care of. Sorry for the trouble. -- Psy guy Talk 19:16, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

Hi: I'm completely unable to understand the violation of 'unblocking', whatever that means, which stops me adding to your mostly excellent entries - one I wanted to edit says Tagore got India's only Nobel in literature, but I feel that should be clarified to indicate that VS Naipaul, whom most consider an 'Indian' writer even if was born in Trinidad, did get the Nobel, I believe in 2001. Cvpj 16:14, 8 August 2006 (UTC) cvpj.

I will need the IP address listed in the message in order to remove the block. Thanks. -- Psy guy Talk 19:16, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

Related to this, you also got 72.14.194.33 in one of those autoblocks, which is a Google web accellerator shared address. We have a pending unblock-en-l email request from a user who was caught by that.

Can you modify these autoblocks so that they don't keep users with valid accounts from logging in, per the blocking policy?

Thanks. Georgewilliamherbert 19:11, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

All taken care of. Sorry for the trouble. -- Psy guy Talk 19:16, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

I have been reblocked, with the same message before. --Deenoe 20:00, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

According to this the IP that you gave me has been unblocked. Sorry for the trouble. -- Psy guy Talk 21:09, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Jennifer Lopez discography

Hi, could you please semi-protect the Jennifer Lopez discographypage form IP useres as they keep vandalising it. They give no proof whatsoever and inflate her sales. I've put the real sales back, but I know they will come back and undo them. Please semi-protect it. Phoenix V

[edit] Why the hell did you block me?

I didn't do anything and was having a pefectly reasonable discussion about it 84.9.85.122 03:00, 1 September 2006 (UTC)

Hey, can you read through what's been going on here, and let me know if he deserved the block. I think he's someone who's admittedly vandalised but says he's wants to do right by Wikipedia now. Let me know your thoughts please. Cheers muchy Khukri (talk . contribs) 09:01, 1 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] One year

Hi Psy guy, today is my one year marker for being at Wikipedia, and I wanted to drop by and say hello. You gave me my original welcome message, a small but very appreciated gesture, and I wanted again to say thanks. Regards, DVD+ R/W 19:53, 5 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Diocesan Infobox

To the WikiProject Catholicism members

I have proposed at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Catholicism an infobox for Catholic Dioceses. I have not gotten any feedback on this proposal, so I’m culling feedback, advice, corrections, etc. for this. If you have the time, would you check out User:SkierRMH/Diocese_Infobox and give me some feedback! Thanks much!!
