Psi Velorum (ψ Vel / ψ Velorum) is a binary star in the constellation Vela. It is approximately 60.5 light years from Earth, making it the nearest star of the constellation.
The primary component, Psi Velorum A, is a yellow-white F-type subgiant with an apparent magnitude of +4.1. The companion, Psi Velorum B, is a yellow-white F-type main sequence dwarf, with an apparent magnitude of +4.6. The two stars are 0.68 arcseconds, or at least 12 Astronomical Units, apart and complete one orbit every 33.99 years.
