PSI is an album by Pitchshifter, released in 2002 (see 2002 in music). Their previous two albums had been released on a major label, but this was released by the minor Sanctuary Records. "Eight days" and "Shutdown" were released as singles. PSI finds the band taking on a distinct nu-metal influence, with slower tempos than previous efforts and down-tuned guitars (JS Clayden remarked in interviews[citation needed] that the band aimed to make it much heavier than previous record Deviant. In contrast to the jungle influences on Infotainment? and www.pitchshifter.com, the programmed elements take more cues from hip hop and downbeat electronica.
