Pryrates is a fictional character in Tad Williams' fantasy series Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn. He is the red-robed advisor to King Elias of Erkynland.

In The Dragonbone Chair, Pryrates originally serves as advisor to Prince Elias. Upon old King Prester John's death, the prince ascends to the throne. With the blinding of Guthwulf and the death of Fengbald, two of Elias' other advisors, Pryrates eventually has the king's ear to himself, and begins a blood pact with the ancient Norn Queen Utuk'ku and the terrible Storm King Ineluki.
