Pruritus ani is a medical term which refers to persistent itching of the anus (and in Latin means literally the same thing).
Pruritus ani can have a variety of causes such as pinworm infestation, candidiasis, hemorrhoids, or erythrasma but is often simply Diaper rash and will clear in a few days with any number of off-the-shelf diaper rash creams (e.g. Desitin).
