Milan (It. Provincia di Milano) is a province in the Lombardy region of Italy. Its capital is the city of Milan.

It has an area of 1,984 km², and a total population of 3,869,037 (2006). There are 189 comuni in the province (source: Italian National Institute of Statistics (Istat), see this link).

The new Monza e Brianza province has been created with part of the province of Milan, and will be effective in 2009. The loss of the new province's component 50 comuni, with a combined population of ca. 750,000 would leave the surviving Province of Milan with an adjusted population of ca. 3,100,000 in its remaining territory.
