Prostitution in Sweden is technically illegal, since it is illegal to purchase the service. Sweden is one of the rare countries where prostitution is a crime, but the crime does not lie in the prostitute selling sexual services, but in the customer's buying of such services.

In 1907 was prostitution legalized, in 1999 was the act of buying the service illegalized.
