Project Monarch

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Project Monarch or Operation Monarch is reputedly a subsection of the Central Intelligence Agency's mind control research projects Artichoke and MKULTRA. This project is supposed to have developed a method whereby the subject is traumatized in a specified manner, resulting in Multiple Personality Disorder. The fragmented personality becomes highly malleable and can be further subdivided and trained to perform desired tasks. A "Monarch" is considered to be an ideal spy, as the surface personality will genuinely have no awareness of its deeper intentions.

Unlike several other CIA mind-control projects which are well attested, the evidence to support the existence of Project Monarch is open to doubt. Much (if not all) of the information regarding Monarch comes from Cathy O'Brien, who claims to have been a victim of Project Monarch, and describes herself as a whistleblower in alerting the public to her claims. Another alleged victim of Project Monarch is Annie McKenna.
