Project Insight

Project Insight (P.I.), a division of the Recreation & Parks Department of San Francisco, California, provides recreational and learning activities for hearing-impaired and vision-impaired children, teenagers, and young adults.
Founded circa 1990, Project Insight is based at Wawona Clubhouse in Stern Grove, two miles south of San Francisco's Golden Gate Park. Staff and volunteers use American Sign Language (ASL).

Because disabled youth are often excluded from recreational and group social experiences, Project Insight:
- provides a variety of recreation, outdoor adventure, and cultural activities for young people with disabilities
- promotes learning and development through recreation, focusing on teamwork, self-expression, education, and building cognitive, social, physical, and living skills
- strives to integrate young people with disabilities into the general community while supporting their independence, dignity, and cultural diversity
