Project64k is a modified version of the Nintendo 64 emulator, Project64. Project64k is compatible with Microsoft Windows operating systems. It fully emulates all ROMs in high resolution up to 1600x1200 with anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering. The program has tweaked Project64 version 1.4 source code and accepts graphics and sound plug-ins like Mupen64, Glide64 and Rice Video. Rice Video plug-in currently is at v6.1.1.1 is the most compatible of these plug-ins running on any DirectX 9.0 accelerated GeForce or Radeon with 16 MiB DDR. However, Jabo's Direct3D 7.0 plug-in included with the emulator is compatible with default Windows 98 settings. The default sound plugin is Jabo's DirectSound 1.4 which nicely emulates audio in most Nintendo 64 games. However, these N64 games tend to be hard to find due to the ECA closing down several reliable ROM sites. Jabo's controller plug-in accepts any Windows-supported controller.

The most important difference between Project64k and Project64 is its integration of the Kaillera client which enables online multiplayer gaming. Players are able to join servers where multiple games may be hosted. This ability is not possible with Project64.

Compatible processors are Intel Celeron, Pentium III, Pentium 4, Pentium D, Pentium M, Pentium 4 EE, Centrino, Turion 64, Sempron, Athlon XP, Athlon 64, Athlon 64 X2, and Athlon 64 FX.

Project64 and Project64k feature a built-in GameShark engine so you can put in legitimate Gameshark cheatcodes in the emulator.

Rice Video 6.1.1.1 applied a cartoon-like cel shading technique to Nintendo 64 ROMs with a hacked plug-in file.

[edit] Extras

With the release of 64k, several new online clans for certain games have been showing up, such as Nintend0wn, Ubersmasher, and MKR.

[edit] Future

Though no word from the creator, it can be assumed Project64k will have no new versions. This is because kaillera integration is a planned feature for Project64 1.7, and therefore would make Project64k obsolete.
