[edit] Story
In a world far, far away, There is a story about a country called the Parts Kingdom...
In a prosperous kingdom powered by wind, there was a flood of various inventions that used electricity. Among these was a propeller that generated electricity when rotated, and used that electricity to spin the propeller again. This invention was called the semi-self-propelling engine "Progear." With this invention, many people were easily able to take to the great wide open skies.
A technology to allow immortality also came to be. An immortal body, dreamed of by all humans, was now attainable by the wealthy elderly. These elderly who attained immortality were come to know as sages, and formed a new governmental council called the "Motorouin". The Motorouin announced, "The current government is soiled in corruption and greed. This will be corrected with a new educational system that will be provided to the new race of mankind, and a new idealistic society will appear". This statement was issued and followed by the use of military force. In order to stop the overly-violent Motorouin, the government committed itself to put the army into motion. This lead to the extraordinary battle of the People versus Elders.
The first battlefield was the capital, where without leaving a single survivor, the dreadfulness of the Motorouin was made clear to the world. This was known historically as "The Punishment of the Sages". Thus, the world fell into fear of the power of the Motorouin.
In a town of victims of "The Punishment of the Sages", there was a group of pilots that were only children called the Young Air Squadron. These youth, whose families were killed, felt that now is the time to really stand up and protect something precious. A new weapon called "Gun Flyer", which the Adults were not able to use, was custom equipped and sent to the skies by these youth.
However, the interception of the Motorouin's attack was without forgiveness for the youth...
[edit] Gameplay
The player must cut through a path among the pockets formed by the enemy fire, as is a staple of manic shooter gameplay. While dodging the Bullet-Storm or Bullet-Hell, the player also uses the different shot methods (Fighter Mode or Gunner Mode) to turn enemies and bullets on-screen into jewels...these jewels can then be collected for higher scores and more powerful bombs (known as Jewel Harvesting). The levels are very short but intense, and the large boss confrontations take up the majority of the action.
[edit] Ships
As the game starts, the player gets to choose a plane and a gunner. There are two planes and three gunners to choose from.
Planes
- A-Type (Gambler) (pilot: Ring Reed)
- The plane moves slowly, the primary fire is spread widely (Weapon: Wide Shot ; Speed: Normal).
- B-Type (Militant) (pilot: Bolt Voiyer)
- The plane moves quickly, the primary fire is concentrated (Weapon: Focus Shot ; Speed: Fast).
Gunners
- Alpha Type Gun Flyer (gunner: Chain Cherott [chierotsuto])
- The gunner shoots explosive missiles. The swing speed of the gun platform is slow, so is the speed of the plane.
- Beta Type Gun Flyer (gunner: Nail [nera] [nerouzu])
- The gunner shoots cannonballs with a high spread. The swing speed of the gun platform is fast, so is the speed of the plane.
- Gamma Type Gun Flyer (gunner: Rivet [ribera])
- The gunner shoots homing missiles. The swing speed of the gun platform is normal, so is the speed of the plane.
(After the pilot and gunner are selected, a brief message will flash on the screen saying "Are you ready set? We started on a trip to hell." which could refer to the difficulty of the game, no matter what setting of difficulty is set.)
[edit] Gameplay details
- If the player destroys an enemy craft, all enemy bullets close to it turn into jewelry.
- the fighter mode (tapping the [A] button) produces rings
- the gunner mode (holding the [A] button) produces stones
- The type of stone the enemy bullets turn into, is equal to the ring level one has currently reached
- A ring harvest increases the ring level to higher types of jewelry
- A stone harvest, decreases the ring level back to the lowest level (the small amethyst)
The basic abilities:
1. Shoot enemies in the fighter mode (tapping the [A] button)
2. Collect rings by holding the [A] button - the ring level increases
3. Continue steps 1 and 2 to build up the ring counter as high as possible
4. Shoot enemies in the gunner mode (holding the [A] button)
5. Collect stones by releasing the [A] button - the ring level decreases
- If the ring counter is low, rings would yield more points than the equal type of stone
- If the ring counter is high, stones would yield much more points than the equal type of rings
[edit] The Ring Counter
The ring counter is located at the left bottom of the playfield. It displays the number of collected jewelry and current ring level by a picture of the current ring type.
If the player were to release a smart bomb by pressing button [B], a great number of rings from the ring counter would be used for the duration of its destruction.
Another action that costs the player valuable rings from the counter is dying.
