Professional Football Researchers Association
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Professional Football Researchers Association (PFRA) was founded on June 22, 1979 in Canton, Ohio by sports historian and writer Bob Carroll and six other football researchers. Its website describes it this way: "The PFRA is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and, in some cases, reconstructing professional football history." The PFRA is mainly concerned with stories associated with the National Football League (NFL). Most of its articles feature NFL teams and players, while other leagues such as the 1940's All-America Football Conference (AAFC) and the 1960's American Football League (AFL) are less expansively treated. PFRA specializes in early NFL history because very little of it is widely known.
PFRA publishes books, pamphlets and a bimonthly magazine, The Coffin Corner, devoted to topics in professional football history.
