Product tie-in

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A Product Tie-In is a form of Advertising in which one company or group sells a product by linking it to another company or group's product or advertising. It can also be called a cross promotion.

An example of this would be a fast food chain creating a limited time food product or meal and linking it to a recently released movie (eg Burger King & Warner Brothers' Superman Returns or McDonald's & Walt Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean 2). Another example would be a manufacturer linking a "special edition" product that has elements created by another firm or designer (eg the Ford F-150 Harley Davidson edition pick-up truck or the Eddie Bauer Explorer.)
