[edit] Picture ID
I'm 80% sure that the second picture is of Prionus californicus but I'm no entomologist. Can anybody give me a positive ID on it? I took the picture in Lockeford, CA which is right on the edge of the Sierra Nevada foothills.
I found the top picture on the Coleoptera page, someone IDed it as a Prionus californicus so I'm going to assume it's correct.
After doing a little more research I believe the top picture is a female and the bottom is a male.
