[edit] Requested move
Talk:Princess Victoria of the United Kingdom — Princess Victoria of the United Kingdom → Victoria of the United Kingdom (disambiguation) – ... and vice versa, to preserve respective page histories. In a nutshell, "Princess" is the older article, but doesn't comply with the naming conventions; "Victoria" is NC-compliant, but lacks the long and illustrious (or otherwise) page history of the older article. Merge notices have been disputed due to concerns in this area. Hopefully a move (and if necessary, a swap) will keep everyone happy. (Note the and vice versa, please.) [edit] Approval summary
Please state which of the following options you can approve of, and an optional one sentence summary, then sign your vote with ~~~~. Feel free to add additional choices. This is a summary, not a replacement, of the discussion which follows. Changes of approval as a result of discussion are welcome, but should be indicated by striking out approvals, rather than removing them.
[edit] Victoria of the United Kingdom (disambiguation)
- Approve. This is approximately as good as the current heading. Will serve the same purpose, and conforms with NC. Arrigo 21:41, 20 September 2005 (UTC)
- Disapprove see talk page on Princess Victoria for my view that we should treat it as the main disambiguation page. What would Victoria of the United Kingdom (disambiguation) be a link from? PatGallacher 15:44, 21 September 2005 (UTC)
- Disagree Victoria of the United Kingdom (disambiguation)? This must be some kind of joke. I would say leave this at the moment where it is. Gryffindor 20:26, 21 September 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Princess Victoria of the United Kingdom
- Approve. This is acceptable heading that serves its purpose. Cannot be said to be against NC as each of those persons wrere so named at some stage of their lives. Arrigo 21:43, 20 September 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Other
- Redirect 'em both. (I'm in fact inclined to nominate them for deletion.) I'm even less convinced than ever that either of these is a) in line with any reasonable reading of the naming conventions, or provides any actual ease of navigation. Alai 02:27, 27 September 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Vote count, 8 days after start of vote
4 people voted, 2 of them apparently not grasping the "approval voting" concept:
- PatGallacher's vote is interpreted that this wikipedian approves a merge of Princess Victoria of the United Kingdom into Princess Victoria - which is an additional option.
- Gryffindor's vote apparently indicates this wikipedian wants to leave Princess Victoria of the United Kingdom where it is, which would be the same as an "approval" of the second option.
In sum,
- 1 vote (Arrigo) for moving Princess Victoria of the United Kingdom to Victoria of the United Kingdom (disambiguation)
- 2 votes (Arrigo, Gryffindor) for leaving Princess Victoria of the United Kingdom where it is.
- 1 vote (Pat) for merging Princess Victoria of the United Kingdom to Princess Victoria.
- 1 vote (Alai) for swapping Princess Victoria of the United Kingdom and Victoria of the United Kingdom (disambiguation)
Even if considering that Alai's vote includes a move of Princess Victoria of the United Kingdom to Victoria of the United Kingdom (disambiguation), that option gets no more than 2 votes, which is still <60% of the votes for any of the proposed moves.
Conclusion: since none of the move proposals got more than 2 votes, which is 40% of the votes, and thus below the 60% treshold for a move, this page, Princess Victoria of the United Kingdom, stays where it is.
Helping out with WP:RM backlog I implement the vote count result, and remove this vote request from the WP:RM list. --Francis Schonken 08:11, 28 September 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Discussion
- Add any additional comments
It seems that there are other editors who feel more strongly than me what is the correct heading for this page. My concern and wish is to keep this page saved (with its edit history), and I accept the heading of these two altyernatives which is decided by others. However, if more optons come, I will oppose if such is untenable. Arrigo 21:45, 20 September 2005 (UTC)
- No-one has proposed deleting this page, and hence its edit history is in no danger of being lost. So what on earth does it matter? Alai 05:18, 21 September 2005 (UTC)
