Priya is a common female name in the Hindu community. Priya means loved one, darling, or the one who is dear to others as well as princess of blossoming flowers. In western countries the name is often pronounced as "Pre-ya".

Priya is the name of one of the most popular hangouts for Delhi´s young intellectuals. Priya was simply the name of a Cinema around which a commercial center has developed now with pubs, disc, great food joints, game parlours, book shops, showrooms of international brands such as Benneton, Levi's etc. The official name is Basant Lok but the youth prefers calling the whole place Priya. It is situated at a very close proximity to esteemed residential Institutes such as IIT Delhi and JNU and many other colleges of the South campus of the Delhi University.
