Prix Robert Papin

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Prix Robert Papin is a Group 2 flat horse race in France for two-year-old thoroughbreds (excluding geldings) run over a distance of 1,100 metres (approximately 5½ furlongs) at Maisons-Laffitte Racecourse in July.

It was first run in 1892 as the Omnium de Deux Ans, adopting its present name in 1928 in memory of Robert Papin, a prominent figure in French racing who died in 1926. When the European "pattern system" of grading races was introduced in 1971, the race was classed as a Group 1, a status which was maintained until the race was re-classed as a Group 2 in 1988.
