Prix Jean-Luc Lagardère
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Prix Jean-Luc Lagardère is a Group 1 flat horse race in France for two-year-old thoroughbred colts and fillies run over a distance of 1,400 metres (approximately 7 furlongs) at Longchamp Racecourse during the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe meeting in early October.
It was first run in 1853 and known until 2002 as the Grand Critérium. It was re-named in 2003 in memory of Jean-Luc Lagardère, a leading French owner/breeder who died earlier that year. Prior to 2001 the race distance was 1,600 metres (1 mile).
