Principality of Auersperg

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Auersperg was a German Princely family, which held estates in Austria and Thengen (located in southern Baden-Württemberg, Germany, north of Schaffhausen, Switzerland.) The Principality of Auersperg emerged from the earlier County of Auersperg of the Junior Line of the Junior Line of the Pancrazische Branch in 1653. The Princes of Auersperg also held at various times the Duchies of Silesia-Münsterberg and Gottschee. Auersperg was partitioned in 1795 between itself, Auersperg-Schönfeldscher and Auersperg-Zweig, and it was mediatised to Austria and Baden in 1806.
