Princess Cécilia of Leiningen was born on June 10, 1988. Her father is Prince Karl Emich of Leiningen and her mother was Princess Margarita of Hohenlohe-Oerhingen. Her mother was killed in a car accident in 1989. In 1991, her father was remarried to Gabriel Renate Thyssen and a year later, her half-sister, Theresa, was born. Because of this marriage, her father was disinherited.

Since she is a descendant of Queen Victoria, she is in the line of succession to the British Throne. Her father is not in the line of succession, so Cécilia and her sister skip her father. She is currently 109th in line.
