Max-Emanuel Ludwig Maria Prinz von Bayern, sometimes styled Prince Max, Duke in Bavaria, born 21 January 1937, is the heir presumptive to both the former Bavarian Royal House and the Jacobite Succession.

Max is the heir-presumptive of the Royal House of Stuart and thus is regarded by Jacobites as the rightful Crown Prince of England, Scotland and Wales.

[edit] Succession Rights

Unlike the United Kingdom or any of its preceding kingdoms, succession to the throne of Kingdom of Bavaria was governed by Salic Law, meaning that the Bavarian crown could not be inherited by or through a female heir. Because Max has no sons, the rights as head of the former Bavarian Royal House will pass after his death to a cousin, Prince Luitpold of Bavaria or Luitpold's son, Prince Ludwig of Bavaria, and his descendants, while the position of heir of the House of Stuart will pass to Max's daughter Sophie, Hereditary Princess of Liechtenstein.
