[edit] History
[edit] Early life
Isolder was born into royalty on the isolated, yet incredibly wealthy world of Hapes. The Hapan culture was primarily maternally dominated; men were reserved as second-class citizens, and the supreme ruler of the planet was the female Queen Mother. Despite these limitations, however, Isolder still found himself plenty to accomplish. Though his older brother was the Chume'da, the heir prince, Isolder was able to take advantage of the many opportunities that awaited him on Hapes. He engaged in such training as physical conditioning, acrobatics, and piloting. At age 15, he became the youngest Hapan to graduate from flight school as an officer in the planet's history.
Four years later, however, Isolder suffered his first tragedy - his brother Kalan was kidnapped near the Terephon system. Instead of ransoming the prince-to-be, Kalan's captors murdered him. Isolder quickly discovered a possibly political motive in his brother's killing. He began to suspect that his aunt Seccah was somehow involved in the heinous act against his beloved brother. Strengthening his resolve, Isolder decided to take matters into his own hands and investigate the murder himself. For two years Isolder delved into the Hapan underworld, posing as a privateer. In his investigation, Isolder came to realize that he actually enjoyed his newfound independence, as opposed to being under his mother's dominion. He eventually caught up with another privateer named Astarta, who helped him catch his brother's killers. They found that Captain Harravan, a pirate, was behind the murders. Isolder promptly dueled the pirate and bested him in battle. He brought Harravan back to Hapes, but before he could question the pirate, he was mysteriously murdered in his jail cell.
Impressed by her son's actions, the Queen Mother, Ta'a Chume, asked Isolder to become the next Prince of Hapes. Although he agreed, tragedy befell the hapless man once again. The Prince's first love, Lady Elliar (whom the Queen Mother distrusted), was drowned in the reflecting pool at the palace's garden. Isolder was shaken, but did not falter; he only sought to harden his will and strength for the times to come.
[edit] New Republic
By chance, Princess Leia Organa came into contact with the Hapan Prince four years after the Battle of Endor. Leia was serving as a diplomat for the fledgling New Republic. This new galactic government was looking for worlds and systems to add to its numbers, and the Hapes Consortium was a perfect candidate. Isolder displayed a feeling of infatuation with the Alderaanian princess, and the Queen agreed to any possible marriage of the two in the future. Thus, Isolder proposed to the Princess with an impressive display at a reception on Coruscant. He presented Leia with extremely valuable gifts, one from each world of the Consortium, and then proposed to marry the Princess. Members of the New Republic pressured Leia to accept this gift, for it would greatly benefit both the Republic and the Hapes Consortium. Leia was not ready to accept, however, as she had another love, Han Solo.
True to Solo's rash character, the Corellian smuggler remained headstrong and committed to his love for Leia. He ended up winning a planet, Dathomir, in a game of sabacc, and decided to present this to Leia to prove himself as a man who could offer her just as much as Isolder. Unfortunately for Solo, Dathomir was a dark, dangerous world filled with dark side adept witches and an Imperial garrison. Solo attempted to win the Princess's favor, and traveled to the nightmarish world.
[edit] New Queen Mother
Isolder, still intent on taking Leia's hand in marriage, joined with Luke Skywalker to find Han and Leia on Dathomir. On Dathomir, Isolder discovered that the culture of the Force witches was similar to that of the Hapan people. Both were maternally dominated and saw men as inferior. Isolder met a witch, Teneniel Djo, and fell in love with her. The Prince wanted to make his new love the Queen Mother, as he began to realize that his own mother was behind the tragedies he faced. The Queen Mother accepted her son's request to step down, and Djo took on the mantle of Queen of Hapes.
Together, Isolder and Teneniel had a daughter that was very strong in the Force, and they named her Tenel Ka. Isolder and his wife raised Tenel Ka in both Hapan and Dathomirian cultures, and in her teen years, decided to send the young girl to be trained at Skywalker's Jedi Academy on Yavin IV. Isolder made it clear that he wanted their daughter to become the next Queen Mother, but Djo preferred that she take her own path.
When the Yuuzhan Vong invaded, the New Republic asked for Hapan support in combating the new threat. Isolder agreed, but other Consortium members voiced their disapproval, insulting Leia and her New Republic. Isolder's decision was put into motion, however, and Hapes lent their navy to help the New Republic attack the Yuuzhan Vong at Fondor. The attack was a disaster; a misfiring tore a hole through the Hapan fleet, and Isolder and the Hapan navy retreated back to Hapes. Tragedy hit the Prince once again as he was informed that, because of a massive disturbance in the Force due to the assault on Fondor, his wife had miscarried.
Once again, Isolder's mother continued to manipulate and conspire against her son. Even without the title of Queen Mother, she created a coup to take down Teneniel Djo, for she was unconvinced of Isolder's wife, and felt that the well being of Hapes would serve better in the hands of a more military-minded leader. Teneniel Djo, her spirit crushed by the loss of her child and the devastation of the Hapan fleet, sank into a deep depression and offered little resistance to her mother-in-law's scheming. Ta'a Chume arranged for the declining Queen to be poisoned, which Ka resented bitterly, as it did not allow her mother the honor of a final battle. She attempted to have Isolder wed Jaina Solo, but the Prince would have none of it. Isolder, saddened by yet another tragedy, sent his treacherous mother to be imprisoned. Isolder's daughter, Tenel Ka, became the new Queen Mother of Hapes.
